So my skin has been not so great lately. Finally I got around to seeing my doctor about it and got a few things prescribed to help, mainly some antibiotics.

I was looking at buying a Clarisonic for a while but I knew I didn't want to spend the extra on getting the Plus/Pro models. The Mia which is the smaller version with just one speed setting fits my needs perfectly. Unfortunately Clarisonic do not currently sell the Mia in the UK through either their own website or other retailers here however I thought I would check on eBay a couple of days ago at the possibility of importing one from the US. Luckily someone located in the UK has recently started selling them so I knew I would have to get one straight away. The price is quite reasonable. It’s about £105 + £6.50 shipping if my memory is right. As far as I know from YouTube, the Mia is currently sold for $145 in the US which works out about £92. To use it in the UK you will need to buy an adapter however these are quite easily available. I bought mine from the Post Office for about £3.49. The great thing about it is Clarisonic deliberately designed the Mia to be used internationally so the voltage is already compatible with the UK's system. No need for a clunky, cumbersome converter!

Best of all I was able to get it in pink!

So far I've been able to use it once (you have to charge it for 24 hours the first time) and I really like it. My skin really does feel cleaner after wards compared to just using my hands. I’d describe it as being close to the feeling you get after exfoliating with a face scrub – only better and without the little bits to deal with. Another thing I was worried about is I have sensitive skin but this did not irritate it at all. Off topic, interestingly enough the new face wash I was prescribed - Panoxyl 10 with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide - actually reduces the redness I so often suffer with. It's pretty unbelievable considering my past experience with products containing Benzoyl Peroxide. Usually it burns my skin and makes it flake fiercely, one of the more common side effects. Something’s telling me it’ll probably start “working” after so many uses and THEN I’ll really start to flake. I can only hope this isn’t the case. Foundation + flaky skin = bad bad match.

I went shopping yesterday (I know - bad Amy). I bought a few things to cheer myself up. Retail therapy always works.
Benefit CORALista Blush Coral blush for a tropical flush
NARS Makeup Primer Preps skin with soothing botanicals to pamper the skin and create a protective base for longer-lasting, natural looking foundation application and wear.
Both pricy but should last a while. ;)

After realising the past 3 months or so I've been spending a ridiculous amount on MAC (although most of the cost came down to brushes, that cushions the blow a bit considering I count those as investments!) I know I need to start cutting back at least while my poor bank balance recovers, haha. That doesn't mean I can't start thinking of the items I want next...

Dark Diversion Fluidline Blackened plum (L/E)
There's a good chance I don't really NEED this, I already own Dipdown Fluidline and that hasn't had much use yet... Since it's limited edition there's a good chance it could sell out before I get around to buying it, we'll see.

Print Eyeshadow Muted grey flecked with shimmer (Satin) (Perm)
I don't own a grey eyeshadow from MAC and this seems like a popular choice.
Patina Eyeshadow Muted taupe brown with golden shimmer (Frost) (Perm)
I love my browns and this seems lovely for an all over wash of colour on the lid.
Sketch Eyeshadow Intense burgundy-plum flecked with red shimmer (Velvet) (Perm)
I don't own anything like this and it looks awesome from swatches as a crease colour. Another most people seem to rave about.

Well Dressed Blush Pink lady pink (Satin) (Perm)
Looks like a good everyday blush for my fair skin
Trace Gold Blush Fairylight gold with shimmer (Sheertone Shimmer) (Perm)
This should suit by skin tone especially when summer comes around. Considering it's still January though I'm not about to rush out and purchase it just yet!
I might have to just break by ban for the Peacocky collection as there's a couple of eyeshadows I really want (Dalliance & Odalisque, maybe Centre Stage too) and they're bound to sell out before February. NARS has a spring collection coming up too, oh dear.

I just finished painting my nails with Glitzerland by OPI which I mentioned in my last entry and I really love it. It's the perfect gold for my skin tone and subtle enough to wear every day. Plus NO brush strokes whatsoever. ♥

I hauled some items recently. Mainly nail polishes.

I got....

OPI : Lucky Lucky Lavender, My Private Jet, Over The Taupe, Glitzerland
Illamasqua : Viridian (below-right), Strike, Scarab (I appreciate the sale ASOS!!)
Essie : Limited Addiction, Merino Cool

Although I haven't used any of them yet, I'm really intrigued by the Illamasquas. They look heart-strikingly gorgeous in the bottle with all that beautiful shimmer but will they live up to the (original) price tag on the nails? After seeing swatches online I'm leaning towards yes. Definitely looking forward to finding out for myself.

The others I've been stalking for a while, every month or so I seek out a few favourites and cross them off my wishlist. Afterall, a girl's got to treat herself. What better way than with nail polish? Relatively cheap, lasts for ages and can change a mood/outfit in a heartbeat. Next buy: Chanel Black Pearl. If it's not already sold out by payday, boo!
